I was always left with questions like, 'How much? Then SledgePainter came up with a short (but unfinished) YouTube series on Dreadfleet that sorta fit the bill. My first recommendation would be to watch that series and pick up some tips. My second recommendation would be to pick up some cheap miniatures to practice on. And my third recommendation is to dive headfirst and see what happens. As far as the Games Workshop guide, I own and consider it a good purchase.although, definitely unnecessary. For my first project I decided to paint my Defenders of the Realm Mini's using the dip method. I've finished 7 of them and have 2 or 3 left. My next project is going to be the Dust Tactics models.
